Questions about StrideBuddy

Short answers to common questions. If your question is not here, email support@stridebuddy.app.

What is StrideBuddy?

StrideBuddy is a training diary for track and field athletes. You log your sessions, races and strength work in one place. StrideBuddy can also build your training week and predict your race times. It is an iPhone app, and there is also a web app.

Who is StrideBuddy for?

StrideBuddy is for adult athletes who race on the track: sprinters, hurdlers, middle-distance and distance runners, and steeplechasers. You must be 18 or older to use it. It does not support jumps or throws.

Is StrideBuddy a GPS running app?

No. StrideBuddy does not track your run with GPS. It is a diary: you enter the session you did, such as reps, splits, recoveries and race results. It does not import workouts from a watch, Strava or Garmin.

Can I log a workout by text or voice?

Yes. Type or dictate one session and StrideBuddy uses AI to prepare a workout entry. Review the details before saving. AI logging needs your consent and an internet connection. You can also enter sessions manually.

Can I log reps and splits?

Yes. Tap Log and choose a structured session. Build it from blocks, reps, splits and recoveries. You can also log continuous runs with distance, time, pace, effort and notes, race results, strength work, and a Quick Note for drills, strides or warm-ups. You can add how hard the session felt, the weather and the surface.

Does StrideBuddy support hurdles and steeplechase?

Yes. Structured sessions support hurdles, steeplechase, hills and active recoveries. You can log race results for flat, hurdles and steeplechase events. Hurdle and steeplechase reps have their own records, apart from flat reps. Your 400m and 400m hurdles race records also stay apart.

Can I log strength workouts?

Yes. Log strength work with exercises, sets, reps, and weight or time. Tap exercises to add them, or start with a template. Strength sessions in your weekly plan include exercise guides.

How do race predictions work?

StrideBuddy uses AI to read your diary and predict your race times. You get predictions for your main event and for related events. For example, an 800m runner sees the 800m, 400m and 1500m. Each prediction shows the most likely time, a range around it and a confidence level: low, medium or high. A chart shows each prediction over the last 6 months, next to your PB. Your first predictions can appear after you log 5 sessions. A prediction is an estimate, not a promise.

How do weekly plans work?

In Plan, StrideBuddy uses AI to build your training week. It uses your event, your recent training, the days you can train and your race calendar. The focus of your training changes during the season, and some weeks are easier on purpose. Each session explains why it is in the plan. If your day changes, tap Change on a session. You can ask for an easier or shorter session, or move it to another day. Plan is in beta. It helps you make training decisions, but it does not replace your coach.

Is StrideBuddy free?

Yes, for now. StrideBuddy is in preview, and every feature is free during the preview. You need an account: sign in with Apple or Google. Most features will stay free. We plan to add a paid subscription in January 2027 for some AI features. We will tell you in the app before anything changes.

Which devices can I use?

StrideBuddy is an iPhone app. It needs iOS 18 or later. Download it from the App Store. There is also a web app at web.stridebuddy.app. It uses the same account and shows the same diary. Use it on a computer or on a phone that is not an iPhone.

Which languages does StrideBuddy support?

The app is available in English, Italian, Spanish (Spain) and French (France). On iPhone, it uses the language of your iPhone. You can change the language for StrideBuddy only in the iPhone Settings app.

Does my diary sync between devices and work offline?

Yes. Your diary is saved in your StrideBuddy account, so it syncs between your devices and the web app. If you reinstall the app, sign in again to get your diary back. Your saved diary works offline, and changes sync when you are back online. Plan and race predictions need an internet connection. Your saved plans and predictions stay available offline.

How do the AI features use my data?

Plan and race predictions use AI. When they run, StrideBuddy sends only the data the feature needs, not your whole diary history. Plan uses Google’s paid Gemini API. Race predictions use OpenAI’s API, with a summary of your diary that leaves out your notes. Google says it does not use this data to train its AI models. OpenAI says it does not use this data to train its models by default. You can turn off all AI features with one switch in Settings. You can still log workouts and view your diary. StrideBuddy does not sell your data. The Privacy Policy has the full details.

How do I delete my account?

Start account deletion at the bottom of Settings, in the iPhone app or in the web app. You must sign in again with the same Apple or Google account. This permanently removes your StrideBuddy account and diary from the server. It does not remove an older private iCloud archive, an iOS backup or an export that you control.

How do I get help?

Email support@stridebuddy.app. You can also send feedback from inside the app. Do not email workout notes, account tokens or private keys. The Support page has help with your account.
